| I have a PC running XP home edition. It is directy connected to a Hugehesnet HN 9000 modem via ethernet 10/100baset. The LAN connection goes down and comes back up immediately about every 3 seconds. When I look at "network connections" status on the PC it shows "Local area connection 10, a network cable is unplugged". I have replaced the cable and it did not help. I have placed a enet loopback plug in the PC and pinged myself overnight - no failures. Have put the same plug in the modem - no failures. The LAN connectivity green light goes off each time this happens. Any idea what might be wrong? I question where the status shows "local area connection 10". What does this mean? Do I have 10 connections running? If so, how can I correct this. Seems to me that it should not show "10". I only have one LAN connection directly connected to the modem. Thanks |

| Does rebooting the PC, or using ipconfig /release and /renew help? The problem isn't with the PC but with the LAN connection. [/QUOTE] /release shows: IP address for adapter for local area connetion 10 has already been released /renew shows correct IP addresses, gway, etc. Do you have any idea what the “10” means in “local area connetion 10” means? Thanks |

| Without seeing a full image of what is showing in the Command Prompt window, nope.
