I am using WinXP Home. I have been installing Windows a lot recently. I installed it on my desktop, but after I install programs and reboot, it gets to the Windows XP screen with the progress bar and stays there, the HDD light doesn't flash at all, but the bar keeps going. I thought it was a bad hard drive so I put in another one and installed, same thing. Then I installed on my laptop, same thing. They're all on the same network, so could it be a worm? If it is, how do you get rid of it? I haven't tried booting to safe mode yet.

Can you identify the specific program that's causing this? i.e. if you do a clean install of WinXP and drivers, and computer reboots w/o any issues, then it sounds like one particuar program. If you're installing a downloaded program, I'd bet that's the culprit. If you can provide a list of what you're installing, we might be able to ferret out the problem. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

I booted to safe mode and figured out that this happens right after I reboot after installing an Internet filter, so I uninstalled it and it boots just fine. Thanks for the help, though.
