i got this virus like 3 days ago in an instant message from a friend.
its in spanish and it reads soemthing about checking out a pictur eof his sister with a link... well i clicked the link and it came to an empty page.
now everytime i start a window with a contact it quickly exes out.. if i click on the contact again it send them the same message that i first received.
i have tried many anti-virus programs and none of them have shown any results.
ALSO i have mcafee with virusscan.. which im now figuring out is pretty crappy.
anybody have any suggestions?

Knowing the specific virus will help. There are a couple of variants and the solutions are all different. Once you figure that out, the fastest way is to Google the virus and there should be a number of sites that will have a solution.
You're correct that McAfee is crappy (as is Norton). Go with something like Kaspersky or NOD32.
FYI, don't, DO NOT use your IM client as that's how the virus is spread.

Do you recall the name of the attachment that you received? Also, which IM client are you using?
