My laptop was working fine then the other day I went to use it and it froze so I rebooted and got this message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM When I was finally able to get to the point where I could choose safemode this is what came up: Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntoskrnl.exe Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\hal.dll Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KDCOM.DLL Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\BOOTVID.dll Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\config\system Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\config\system.alt Then after a pause it would tell me to use the original disk to repair but that's not working! I don't know what else to try but my financial files are there and I REALLY need those - don't care about the rest of it. Is there something I will be able to do to regain access? or some other way that the info will be able to be retrieved??
