Ok I have windows XP and I tried to install SP2. My computer said that it did not have enough memory and was going to shut down, now when i try to turn it on it comes up with a blue screen that says winsrv not found reinstalling the application may fix the problem (not word for word) I went out and bought more memory and put it in the computer. I also read all of the bulletins on it. It looks like I need to reinstall windows. I have the windows XP disc in there but I never get a screen that says "press any key to boot from CD" like everyone keeps saying i should. I have a dell inspiron 2650, if anyone knows how to fix this problem I would appreciate it sooo much!! I'm going crazy over here!! Thanks!

You'll have to go into the BIOS and set the boot options so that CD is first, then floppy (if you have one), then the hard disk.

I'm following all of the directions everyone has given for this exact problem, but when I type CD $NTServicePackUninstall$\SPUNINST
BATCH SPUNINST.TXT
It starts to keep saying 1 file(s) copied. and it just keeps saying it, i don't even get to type exit. Is this normal??

Based on your original post, it sounded like you were planning on doing a complete reinstall of WinXP. The above directions don't make any sense.

Sorry, I'll be more clear, I'm not very good with computers.
I was just running the recovery, i put the disc in and when it popped up to either reinstall windows or run recovery i pushed R to just do a recovery. But I figured out that it was normal for it to look like that. My only problem now is that it still tells me i need Service Pack 2. Am i supposed to reinstall it, even though that was the whole reason my computer went down before or do I just let my computer keep telling me that I need it?

At this point, you may want to call Dell for specific help. It sounds like you'll need to do a complete reinstall.
