When I try to use microsoft update, I get the error code: 0x80246008 . I went to the help and support website, and followed the directions. When I go to services, click on BITS and select to start services, I get
"Could not start Backround Intelligent Transfer Service on local computer.
Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service."
On the help and support site it says to run "regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qmgr.dll" and "regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qmgrprxy.dll". The second one said it registered, but the first comes up as "C:\windows\system32\qmgr.dll was loaded, but the dllregisterserver entry point was not found. This file can not be registered."
I dont know what else to try. The BITS still doesnt start and windows update still doesnt work.
Another problem. When I shut down my computer, I consistantly get the error "the instruction at "0x02b7cc37" referenced memory at "0x02b7cc37". Memory could not be read. After that one, I get the same message with "0x02b42ed". What do these errors mean and how do I get them to go away? My computer started running very slow 2 days ago. I didn't install anything or download anything that wasnt on it 3 days ago when it ran fine.
I have 32 gigs of free space. Running XP home edition version 2002 service pack 1. Intel Celeron CPU 2.4 ghz. 256 mb or ram.
Thank you for your help!!!!
