Hi All,
Very recently my PC got infected with a virus,(i for got the name) . I used AVG to detect ity. Thoug it was not able to heal , it deleted the virus from my system.
Now i cannot connect to rthe internet, cannot use messenger, Iexplorer, mozilla etc.
NOTE: however i am able to use Peer to Peer softawares like ARES. So my connection is up and working. but my PC just would not open any web page.
I tried daignostic tools and found that HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP portsd could not be connected.
Can anybody help me on this please

It sounds like the virus may have damaged the system to the point you may need to do a complete reformat/reinstall of everything. Before doing that, try running restore (put in the WinXP disc, reboot and go into the install program to try and restore the system first before reformatting).

The first thing i would do is to try a System Restore (using rstui.exe) if you have a restore point dating back to before your virus infection.
If that is a non-runner or fails, try a 'Repair Install' using your XP CD - this will retain your files and data.
