I have 2 wireless LAN modem/routers - 1 came from Be (my UK ADSL ISP) - a Thomson Speedtouch - the other a Netgear 834GT that I had from my previous ISP. My laptop is located only 1 floor down in the house, but I am struggling to get anything better than a low/very low signal from either of the routers (I keep alternating them). The Netgear has a removable antenna, so I have tried using a stand-alone upright "rubber duck" 5dBi antenna (compared to the standard 2dBi) but with little noticeable benefit. The laptop has a built-in wireless LAN card (with no external antenna), so again I have added a Netgear USB2 network adaptor, located higher than the laptop - again with no significant improvement. I am getting very frustrated at being unable to improve the situation - does anybody have any other suggestions? My only other thoght is that the 2 router/modems are located beneath a 24" Dell LCD screen - could that be causing interference? Thanks in anticipation.
