| First, which version of WinXP are you using on each? To connect to each other, you will need a wireless router. If you're connecting to the internet, connect your internet connection to the wireless router. As to security, the router will (or should have) a hardware firewall built in. It should at least support WEP. If it supports WAP2, use that.
