There's a big difference in RAM. Check your computer manual to see they type of RAM you need. It'll provide you with the specifics. I'd recommend looking at getting at least 512mb of RAM and replace your the current ram. SDRAM and DIMM RAM are totally different. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

Based on what you've written, it sounds like you're not sure of what you're doing. I'd strongly recommend taking your computer to a reputable computer store and ask them to determine what RAM you need and how much you can actually add. Different computers/motherboards have specific ways in which RAM needs to be installed. Here's the link to Sony's site specific to your computer. You should find some good information as to the type of RAM you need and how to properly install it. As far as the monitor issue goes, it sounds like the graphics card wasn't installed correctly after you fiddled with the RAM. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100
