| Good question - if he's overclocking the graphics card (a technique of making the GPU run faster than it should - used primarily by gamers), then this will definitely shorten the lifespan of a graphics card. If he's overclocking AND playing graphics intensive games, then this produces so much heat that it can burn out the GPU, or actually cause it to explode. Depending upon the system, a graphics card can be overclocked via the BIOS (solution is to set it to normal settings and p@ssword protect the BIOS) or via a third party applet (solution would be to remove the applet and give him guest rights only) ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D2Hs and D100 |
