You probably have a winmodem? Those are pieces of sh*t. In win9x you have some options, but you might want to go out and just buy a new modem, they only cost $15.
In device manager, you could double click on ports, and disable com1. now if you redetect the modem, itll install on com2 since com1 is unavailable. Or you could use the wmreg.exe file on the win98 cd to remove all winmodem registry keys, and reinstall the winmodem. -gosh |
