Are you using a router to connect the two computers? It sounds like you're using Internet Connection Sharing. I believe WEP is designed to be used with a router. Need a little more info. WEP is designed for routers. About the only alternative is to use something like Zone Alarm. FWIW, for a few dollars more that what you'll pay for Zone Alarm, you can get a good wireless router with a built-in firewall (I think Linksys includes one year of ZoneAlarm for free).
