Get the EXACT error message and search on it at http://support.microsoft.com. It sounds like you got a windows installer problem, go to Help and Support and search on "windows installer" or msi, theres a utility that will remove all msi components then you can reinstall it. If this is winxp home, go into safe mode and logon as administrator, yo do this by pressing f8 as pc boots up, and select safe mode.
