| Try doing a clean install of WinXP, then apply SP2, then WMP 10. As to why WMP 9 wouldn't work, the best guess w/o having any info on your system is that there was another media player (RealPlayer, Winamp, etc) that was causing conflicts and screwed everything up. Unfortunately, with some of the software conflicts that exist with SP2, a clean install is the best way to go.
