If you boot from winxp cd, choose r for repair, and recovery console, that will have cd support.
However i think you should follow: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q270/0/08.asp, maybe uninstall all your cd burning software.
What about system restore?? Have you tried that? It's under start > all programs > accessories > system > system restore, just go back to a day the pc worked.
Or you could try driver rollback, but im unsure what u did to cause this?

drivers are only stored in driver.cab, thats it. winxp does not use the cab format like win9x did.
