Should be. I haven't run through that scenario. If you are worried about it did you try to boot off of the CD? Thats the easiest and quickest way to get XP installed. A lot of people aren't used to booting off of the CD without using a floppy. You may want to try that.

there is a dos level command you can run. I think it is winnt. Try running that instead of setup. You can install it from a dos prompt.

Your gonna need smartdrv though, and its not on a win9x boot disk ;)
if you cant boot from the cd do this:
start with a win9x bootdisk
if you have a win98 or me cd, put it in the cdrom
change to cdrom (e:)
type: cd win98 (or cd win9x for winme)
type: smartdrv
take out win9x cd, put in winxp cd
type: cd ..
type: cd i386
type: winnt
