Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Security If there are no events listed there then auditing is not turned on. To turn it on: Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Audit Policy -> Audit account logon events -> Check both sucess and failure.

I assume you mean can you enable logging in Win98 for shared folders? If so, no you can't enable *anything* in Win98. [emote|:)] Unfortunatly the logging options in Windows 9x are basically non-existant.

Are the share permissions set for specific users or "Everyone"? In other words, do you just want to know when each user connects to the share (which the above policy setting will log) or if the shares is available to Everyone, are you trying to log IP address or something similar?
