Are you sure you didn't do a clean install. Disable simple file sharing, then right click on the folder and go to properties, then security tab. Type in your usename and click check, then ok. If your using xp home do this in safe mode.

Like i said go into safe mode. Restart the pc and press F8 then select safe mode.
