Don't disable the firewall, uninstall it. Uninstall netsetter if you have it. In internet options, connections tab, click lan settings, check the first box to automatically detect settings. Or if you have it checked uncheck it. Are you using a canadian isp?

I've heard from people that other people are having the same problem as you. I don't know if it's caused by windows update's server or sp1. You might want to wait a couple days for the server issues to be fixed. You can download sp1 directly at microsoft.com
